Ronald Alepian

Ronald Alepian (born July 17,1970) is the Vice President, Global Communications of Nortel, a Canadian telecommunications vendor, a position he accepted in January 2007. He is also co-founder and Chairperson of the Canadian Youth Mission to Armenia (CYMA), which included such Canadian luminaries as the late Senator Jacques Hébert founder of Canada World Youth and the late Senator Shirley Maheu as honorary board members.

Marketing Magazine reported on his appointment at Nortel, stating that the task of turning around Nortel's reputation is one of the most challenging jobs in the public relations industry in Canada today.

Prior to his appointment at Nortel, Ronald led corporate and financial communications at Canadian telecommunications giant BCE (parent of Bell Canada) and was widely quoted in the media on such major issues as the divestiture of Bell Globemedia (now CTV Globemedia), CGI Group and Telesat Canada, the creation of the Bell Aliant Income Trust as well as BCE's attempt at an Income Trust conversion in 2006. At BCE he reported to Executive Vice President Bill Fox, former Director of Communications and Press Secretary to Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. He was national practice leader for the tech/telecom business of Burson-Marsteller / National Public Relations during an almost 10-year award winning career with the leading consultancy before joining BCE.

In the early 1990s, he co-founded and led the Canadian Youth Mission to Armenia (CYMA), a project of the Canadian Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, with the active involvement and cooperation of all major Armenian institutions, including the AGBU (Armenian General Benevolent Union), the Tekeyan Cultural Association and the Association of Armenians from Istanbul. Over the years, over 400 Canadians have traveled to the former Soviet republic, now the independent Republic of Armenia, and completed construction of 5 schools, 2 community centres and the renovation of the Khor Virap monastery. CYMA was the subject of much media coverage in the early 1990s in both Canada and the US, and Alepian was interviewed by key Armenian national media such as Mayrakark - the daily national news broadcast.

He is a recipient of the St. Gregory of Nareg Cross, which was awarded to him by Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, then Primate of the Diocese of Canada.

He and his wife Diana Alepian reside in Toronto, Canada.
