Heikki Westerinen

Heikki Markku Julius Westerinen (born 27 April 1944) [All sources agree on 1944 as his birth year (including FIDE), but Sunnucks and Brace give the date 28 April, and Keene has 12 May (!). Gaige and Whyld have reputations for accuracy, and both have 27 April.] is a Finnish chess player, born in Helsinki.He became a national master in 1960 at age 16, and earned the FIDE titles of International Master in 1967 and Grandmaster in 1975.Westerinen won the Finnish Championship in 1965, 1966, 1968, and 1970.He has competed in the Chess Olympiads of 1962, 1964, 1966, 1968, 1970, 1972, 1974, 1976, 1978, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1996, and 2006.
