- Hilda Montaire
Hilda Suico Montaire was born in
Mandaue ,Cebu City on April 13, 1922. She studied at theColegio de la Immaculada Concepcion in Cebu City, theFar Eastern University and theUniversity of Santo Tomas ,Manila . While studying at the Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion, she was the editor of "Blue and White", the CIC school paper.Montaire began her writing career at a young age. Her professional career took off after World War II with the "Bisaya" magazine, to which she contributed short stories and serialized novels. "Ikaduhang Sugo" was published by E. Q. Cornejo and Sons in 1971. She often used the pseudonym Rosa Montes.
Montaire also worked with numerous radio stations and once handled “Ang Mga Tambag ni Inday Loling,” an advice program on air. She credits
Maria Kabigon , another well-established Cebuana writer, as her mentor, having influenced her a lot in writing.References
