|St. Michael's GAC Lissan ( _ga. Naomh Mhichil CLG Lios Aine) is a
Gaelic Athletic Association club based in theparish ofLissan ,County Londonderry ,Northern Ireland . The club is a member of theDerry GAA and currently cater forGaelic football ,Rounders and handball. St. Michael's teams play all their GAA in Derry championships, however part of the parish is located inCounty Tyrone as well.Lissan have won the
Derry Junior Football Championship once. Underage teams up to U-12's play in South Derry league and championships, from U-14 upwards teams compete in All-Derry competitions.Gaelic football
Lissan field Gaelic football teams at U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, Minor and Senior levels. They currently compete in the Derry Junior Championship and Division 5 of the Derry ACFL.
History
The club was first founded in 1910 as "Ruairi Ógs",cite web |url= http://www.lissangac.com/history.php|title= St Michael's Club History|accessdate=2007-09-28 |format= |work= ] with John Corr as the first Chairman. Mathes were played on a pitch known as "The Waterside" in Tullynure. The club officially became St. Michael's in 1962 when was affiliated to the South Derry Board, with Joseph O'Hagan as Chairman, Bernard McGready as Secretary and Paul O’Hagan as Treasurer. In 1977 the club laid a new playing field. Work on a new pavilion commenced in 1986 and was officially opened in August 1990 by GAA President Elect
Peter Quinn (GAA President) .St. Michael's have reached the
Derry Junior Football Championship on five occasions. In 1987 they were defeated by Dungiven Thirds, in 1990 by Foreglen,in 1997 by Eoghan Rua and 2006 by Drum. The club's only Junior success came in 1998 when they beat Seán Dolan's in the decider on a scoreline of 0-14 to 0-09.
