History
Great Britain has participated in the Baseball World Cup several times, winning the inaugural event in 1938, when it was held in Great Britain between the British and American teams.
In 2007, the team were runners up at the European Baseball Championship, finishing top of Group B and only losing two games in the entire tournament, finishing second to the Netherlands and so qualified for the Final Qualifying Tournament in Taiwan for the 2008 Summer Olympics. However, a lack of funding including the refusal by UK Sport to provide any backing, meant they were forced to withdraw from the Final Qualifying tournament and were replaced by Germany.[cite news]
