John Allister Currie (
February 25 1868 –June 28 1931 ) was anOntario author, journalist and political figure. He representedSimcoe North in theCanadian House of Commons from 1908 to 1921 as a Conservative and then Unionist member and then representedToronto Southeast and then St. Patrick in theLegislative Assembly of Ontario from 1922 to 1929 as a Conservative.He was born in
Nottawa, Ontario . Currie ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the House of Commons in 1904. He was defeated in his bid for reelection in 1921 and was elected to the provincial assembly in a by-election in 1922. He was a member of the 48th Highlanders of Canada which served inSouth Africa during theSecond Boer War and served in theCanadian Expeditionary Force duringWorld War I , being promoted to the rank of colonel in 1915.Currie wrote "The Red Watch: with the First Canadian Division in Flanders", published in 1916.
