Leeds International School

Leeds International School is a private school in Sri Lanka with four separate branches. The schools, all on the south west coast, in are in the towns of Panadura, Galle, Martara and Payagala. They are co-educational and the medium of instruction is English, not Sinhala. The school's motto is "Strive for Excellence".

Leeds International School Panadura

The first and largest of the five, Leeds International School Panadura, currently has 1200 students of all ages from pre-school to 19-years-old (Form 7). It is divided into junior and senior schools, with the transition age at 11-years-old, and which occupy different buildings on the same site in central Panadura.

British O levels and A levels are sat by students at the end of their Form 5 and Form 7 years respectively. The A level subjects offered are: accounting, biology, business studies, chemistry, computing, mathematics, further mathematics and physics. All examinations are done through the Edexcel Examination Board.

History

The first school, Leeds International School Panadura, was founded less than a decade ago by the two brothers Sarath and Ransi Jayatissa. Sarath Jayatissa is the chairman of the schools, which are run as a private company owned by himself. The numbers of students in all four schools are still growing rapidly.
