Brett Nelson is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. Nelson was born in 1969 and currently lives in
Boise, Idaho . In high school, Nelson played in a band calledFarm Days , along withDoug Martsch and Andy Capps. [http://www.musicianguide.com/biographies/1608002463/Built-to-Spill.html] The trio would later reunite as the second line-up ofBuilt to Spill . Nelson's next band,Butterfly Train , released two albums onUp Records , in 1994 and 1996, before breaking up. (Capps was drummer for the latter album.)In 1994, Nelson and Capps joined Martsch's
Built to Spill , and has appeared on every album except the debut,Ultimate Alternative Wavers . Nelson later formedThe Suffocation Keep , with whom he sings and plays guitar and keyboards, along with Grady Kimsey-Guitar, Bill Pettitt-Keyboards, Scott Beazer-Bass, and Joe Hensley-Drums. The Suffocation Keep released their debut album 'John Hughes was never so wrong' in 2002. They finished a second album in 2004, entitled "A Few Minor Modifications of the Stars". The album was never released; however, the band did make it available for free download. Nelson continues to perform in both Built to Spill and The Suffocation Keep.External links
