P. L. Raj (died 2002) was a Bollywood film choreographer from Andhra Pradesh. He choreographed over 1,000 films,[1] and won a Filmfare Award for Best Cinematography for Jaag Utha Insan (1984).[2] Other notable works include Milan (1967). Though Raj began his career in Bollywood in early 50s the first major break saw him directing Dev Anand in Love Marriage. Raj also choreographed dances for various films including Shagird, Teesri Manzil, Junglee, Gumnaam, Sholay, Ek Duje Ke Liye, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Don, Sagar and Sargam. Raj had won Dadasaheb Phalke award for technical excellence in 2001. He has worked in Telugu, Bengali, Marathi and Punjabi movies.
He died in 2002, aged 68 in Bombay. His son Leslie Lewis is a popular composer and a member of the duo Colonial Cousins..[1]
