Born in
Rio de Janeiro ,Brazil , Diego Zangado graduated in symphonic percussion and classical music from the Escola de Musica Villa-Lobos, one of the most traditional conservatories in Rio de Janeiro. He extended his studies taking classes from Eliseu Costa, the solotimpanist of the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theatre Orchestra and Andre Boxexa, timpanist of the Brazilian National Symphonic Orchestra and drummer of "Agua de Moringa", a well-known group ofsamba andchoro . Diego also took composition and harmony lessons from theelectroacoustic music composer Tato Taborda.Diego became the first
timpanist of theFluminense Federal University symphonic band and he was elected the best instrumentalist in the 1999 Festvilla, the music festival of the Villa-Lobos Music School.As a teacher, Diego has coordinated a percussion group with less fortunate children from Rio de Janeiro. He also has been teaching in several music schools. Diego owns his studio, where he teaches private drums and percussion classes. He has also organised quick courses in several cities in Brazil.

Since 2004, Diego accompanies the famous pianist, singer and composer
Francis Hime , and travels along with him, promoting his recent work, as well as his popular hits. Also he accompanies Francis' wifeOlivia Hime , well-known singer and songwriter. Diego is also the drummer of Elton Medeiros, a truesamba icon.Diego is the drummer of Casuarina, a
samba band that has been appointed as the best group in the currentsamba scene. Casuarina won the 2006 Rival Petrobras Music Awards, as "Best Musical Group".Diego is the percussionist of the group Pedra Lispe, a music band that mixes contemporary
instrumental music and Brazilian regionalarmorial music.Diego also plays as a duo with the guitar player Caio Marcio. Caio was nominated for the 2004 Tim Music Awards, as "Revelation". Diego also is a member of the group "Batucada Urbana", lead by the

One of his most famous songs, "Vaso Ruim", was composed along with Casuarina's lead singer Gabriel Azevedo. "Vaso Ruim" was recorded in Casuarina's second album, "Certidão", released by
