Low Carbon Communities

Low Carbon Communities

Low Carbon Communities is an innovative Local Government programme between Shropshire County Council and central UK government to reduce CO2 emissions in three rural communities in the county.

The project, based in Ellesmere, Cleobury Mortimer and the “Floodplain Community”, will act as a pilot project for similar ventures throughout the country. It aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 5.88% or 3920tonnes within these communities by April 2009, incorporating all sectors of those communities.

Marches Energy Agency, a not-for-profit organisation based in Shropshire, in partnership with Shropshire County Council will be guiding community members through tailored energy saving plans. These plans will be drawn up on an individual basis for households, businesses and community buildings to involve the installation of energy efficiency measures and small scale renewable technology.
