"Youth in Revolt" is the 2009 feature film adaptation of the C.D. Payne book of the same name about a cynical sex-obsessed 16-year-old's (Michael Cera) pining love for an intelligent girl (Portia Doubleday) and the things that stand in his way, including his ignorant divorced parents (Steve Buscemi and Jean Smart), his mom's arrogant boyfriends (Ray Liotta and Zach Galifinakis), and the boy that the girl still likes (Jonathan B. Wright).

Production

The film, as of June 7, 2008, is in production. Despite his age, Michael Cera has been cast as sixteen-year-old protagonist Nick Twisp. Portia Doubleday has been cast as Nick's love interest Sheeni; Steve Buscemi as George, Nick's greedy and temperamental father; Jean Smart as Estelle, Nick's neurotic mother; and Ray Liotta as Estelle's fascist boyfriend LAPD Officer Lance Wescott.
