The Shota Rustaveli State University ( _ka. შოთა რუსთაველის სახელმწიფო უნივერსიტეტი) is the higher educational institution in Batumi, capital of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara. Georgia. It is named after the medieval Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli.
The University was established in 1990 on the basis of the Batumi Pedagogical Institute which had been functioning since 1945. The faculties are housed in the building which had served as the Batum Male Gymnasium in the early 1900s.
It currently operates four departments and offers both graduate and post-graduate courses.
