Jocelyn de Angulo

Jocelyn de Angulo

Jocelyn de Angulo, fl. 1172, Anglo-Norman knight.

Jocelyn de Angulo was one of fifty knights serving under Hugh de Lacy upon the latter's grant of Meath by Henry II in 1172. Jocelyn was awarded the barony of the Navan by de Lacy. He had sons Gilbert, Phillip and William, all of whom would be outlawed for rebellion in 1195.

Descendants of his son William de Angulo became known as Mac Goisdelbh (Mac Jocelyn) or Costello, commonly to be found in Connaught.
