Raymond Deane (born 1953, Achill Island) is a contemporary freelance Irish composer and author. His work "Seachanges (with Danse Macabre)" (the first work in his Macabre Trilogy) is currently study material on the Leaving Certificate Music syllabus in Ireland. He has lived in Dublin, Basel, Cologne, Berlin, Oldenburg and Paris.

He studied music in University College Dublin, Ireland, from 1970 till 1974.

He was a founder member of the Association of Young Irish Composers which later became the Association of Irish Composers, the Irish branch of the International Society for Contemporary Music.

Numerous recordings of his works have been made, on the Naxos, Black Box, and RTE labels.

Raymond Deane is also well known for his work as a pro-Palestinian activist and is an active member of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign. As such he has used his position in Aosdana to propose boycotts of Israeli cultural and academic institutions.
