His work "Seachanges (with Danse Macabre) " (the first work in his Macabre Trilogy) is currently study material on the Leaving Certificate Music syllabus inIreland . He has lived inDublin ,Basel ,Cologne ,Berlin ,Oldenburg andParis .He studied music in
University College Dublin , Ireland, from 1970 till 1974.He was a founder member of the Association of Young Irish Composers which later became the Association of Irish Composers, the Irish branch of the International Society for Contemporary Music.
Numerous recordings of his works have been made, on the
Naxos , Black Box, andRTE labels.Raymond Deane is also well known for his work as a pro-Palestinian activist and is an active member of the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign. As such he has used his position in
Aosdana to propose boycotts of Israeli cultural and academic institutions.
