Gianmarco Cavagnino graduates in february 1989 at the Politecnico di Torino and in 1990 passes his professional certification exam.
In 1991, while attending a master in communication and design at the
Domus Academy (Milan ) he has the opportunity to meet such personalities of international Design asAndrea Branzi , Anna Castelli, Massimo Morozzi, Denis Santachiara andAldo Cibic . He establishes with Aldo Cibic a cooperation relationship which is nowadays consolidated. Their first important joint project is “Canelli and the golden Lands” for the tourist and cultural improvement of a 160 square kilometers area inPiedmont .Gianmarco Cavagnino has always committed himself in an activity of research in the field of design, with a concern for users’ comfort and needs: 1995-1996 honorable mention by the
Colorado State University in the International Small Home Competition; in1997 wins the Architecture competition at the Academy of Architecture, Arts and Sciences inLos Angeles . Furthermore focusing his attention on the requalification of the environment, many of his works are involved in promoting the identity and memory of his native territory.In 2004 he designs Valente Jewellers’ main shop in the famous
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in Milan, with the intervention of Aaron Demetz, thus launching out into an international activity that leads him to found the design and communication company gianmarcocavagnino srl.In December 2006 he wins the international interior design competition for the realization of a charming, luxury hotel in a completely restructured XVIII century building in the center of
Saint Petersburg (Russia ). His proposal is chosen for his “emotional and sensorial approach to the project”.110 rooms in modern, minimal design, where the five senses and the customer’s art sensibility will be exalted. Saint Petersburg’s colours will be proposed in each floor and six emerging contemporary artists will be involved in interpreting the city’s essence. Among his most recent works must be counted: the restructuring of apartments inParis andRiga (Latvia ) (monographic article on the review AD Balthia); the project for the requalification of a XIXth century industrial area of 50.000 sq.m in the center of Riga into a residential area (with mention on latvijasarchitectura);the Domina Vacanze’s management offices in Milan; the restructuring of Ca’ Zusto inVenice , a XIVth centuryByzantine building transformed into a luxury hotel;the realizations of Valente Jewellers’ shopping shop in Budapest; Valente’s stand in Basel 2007;the new Valente’s store inLugano (Switzerland ); the restructuring of the Giudecca hotel in Venice;the restructuring of the Piccolo Hotel in the prestigiousPortofino ;artistic supervision in the coordination of the Domina Hotels Group’s image in Italy.
