So Aono (born in
Tokyo , 1943) is aJapan esenovelist , the winner of the 1979Akutagawa Prize and the third son of the renowned literary criticSuekichi Aono .Aono studied
literature atWaseda University but left the university early to travel. After visiting Europe and Northern Africa, he returned to Japan in 1971 to publish his first work. From 1972 to 1977 he travelled through Europe again. Upon his return to Japan, Aono became active in literary and critical writings.He has translated works by
Charles Bukowski into Japanese. Currently he lives in Tokyo and teaches as Professor of Literature atTama Art University .Awards
