Carlo Gaetano Gaisruck

Gaisruck was born on the seventh of August in 1769 in Austria. [ [http://www.gcatholic.com/dioceses/diocese/mila0.htm Metropolitan Archdiocese of Milano, Italy ] ] He was elected the canon of the Cathedral chapter of Passau in September of 1788. The next year he became the auxiliary bishop of Passau, thus gaining the title of Bishop of Derbe. In 1818 he became archbishop of Milan. On September 27th, 1824 he was created a Cardinal. In the 1846 conclave, he was to present the veto of the Emperor of Austria against the election of Cardinal Mastai-Ferretti, but arrived too late; the latter had already been elected and taken the name Pius IX. Cardinal Gaisruck died on the 19th of November, 1846.
