Labhrás Ó Murchú

Labhrás Ó Murchú is the Director-General of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, an organisation which exists to promote Irish traditional music and culture. He is also a Senator.

Born in Tipperary, [http://www.blarneystone.com/comhaltas/news0996.htm Comhaltas newsletter for 9/96 ] ] Ó Murchú was an unsuccessful candidate in the 1993 elections for the 20th Seanad, standing on the Cultural and Educational Panel. In 1996, the Lord Mayor of Dublin Seán Dublin Bay Rockall Loftus awarded him the Dublin City Lord Mayors Award, in recognition of his many achievements in cultural and social work.
