The Salzgitter Bismarck Tower is an observation tower completed in 1900 in Salzgitter, Germany. In contrast with most other Bismarck towers, it does not consist of poor stone construction, but rather of a base of bricks with a lattice tower on top of it. On one side, it resembles an Eiffel Tower with a bow between its feet. Construction of the Salzgitter Bismarck Tower was voted upon by the Harz club on May 8, 1899. Also on that day, the construction site was chosen and the site was bought by the forest cooperative of Gitter. On September 10, 1899, the construction work started.
The construction was done by Hoenerbach/Salzgitter and the machine and steel structure company Weule/Alt. As the construction license was not given until January 12, 1900, the tower was not completed until August 12, 1900. On July 21, 1900 it was decided to install a Bismarck museum. Until 1965, a 2 metre high victory trophy was displayed at the entrance. The tower was renovated in 1990 and 2002.
