"In Milton Lumky Territory" is a realist, non-science fiction novel authored by Philip K. Dick. Originally written in 1958, but rejected by prospective publishers, this book was eventually published posthumously in 1985 by Dragon Press. It was published in two editions. 50 copies were bound in quarter leather, included a signature from one of the author's canceled checks and were not jacketed. 950 copies were published with a cloth binding and included a dust-jacket. It was reprinted in paperback in 2006.

Plot summary

In 1958, Bruce Stevens is a buyer for a national warehouse chain, who returns to his hometown, Boise, Idaho. Once there, he initiates a relationship with one of his former high school teachers, Susan Faine. She arranges a new job for him, managing a typewriter shop. Travelling salesman Milton Lumky informs Stevens of a warehouse full of surplus typewriters, and so Stevens travels to Seattle to see this potential bounty for himself. Unfortunately, the typewriters all have Spanish language keyboards, and so he tries to arrange a sale to his former warehouse employer. He tells Susan, who passes the information onto the warehouse chain, leading to their temporary estrangement, but this is not permanent. Stevens and Susan travel to Montario to open a new shop and start a more harmonious life together.
