11 February 1980 inBrăila ,Romania ) is aRomania nrugby union footballer. He is currently playing professionally forUS Montauban in France'sTop 14 . He plays at Prop and has played for Romania since 2003; including getting selected for Romania's 2007 World Cup squad.Balan began his rugby career playing for Brăila in his home town. He then played for Romanian clubs Timişoara, Cluj and finally Steua Bucharest. After that he moved to
France and played forBordeaux Rugby Métropole who were inFédérale 1 at the time. He helped them get promoted to thePro D2 , and then joined his current clubUS Montauban in 2005. Montauban was promoted from Pro D2 to France's premier competition the Top 14 following Balan's first season with them.He was first selected for Romania in 2003 when he played against Georgia on
30 March that year. He has played for Romania every year since then, and has participated in the European Nations Cup, and in2007 Rugby World Cup finals.External links
