"God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You" is the third single released from *NSYNC's Europe/US self-titled debut album. While the previous singles were released in Europe, this one was not, and subsequently only charted in Australia and the US, reaching #46 in Australia and #8 in the US. The single included a live version of Christopher Cross' "Sailing," as well as a limited edition postcard and the single's video.

A country version of the song was released shortly after the original, and featured country band Alabama. The country version peaked at #3 on the "Billboard" Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts and #29 on the Billboard Hot 100. It was Alabama's last Top Ten country hit.

This single is also included on 'N Sync's "Greatest Hits" and on the first "Totally Hits" album.

Music video

Though the lyrics point to a lover, the video implies the "you" in the title is someone's mother. The video was shot primarily in black and white with "old-fashioned" effects added, following a boy and his mother's journey from birth through childhood events to World War II, when the boy goes off to fight. Before leaving, he attends a USO dance where 'N Sync are performing. As the last third of the video progresses, the mother and the girlfriend are worried when no word has come from the young man. The last thirty seconds show an Army personnel knocking on the mother's door, leading the viewer to believe this is an officer coming with bad news. The mother backs into the house when first seeing him, before realizing that it is in fact, her son.
