- Janos Gay
Janos Gay (b.1954 Budapest) Hungarian sculptor and architectural designer. Best known for works adorning various modern buildings including shopping malls. Deals with contemporary issues of sexuality in his museum based works. Trained at the Budapest Academy of Fine Art, he earned his degree in 1976 and went on to take part in various one man and group shows. His works focus on the dilemmas of being homosexual in a straight society, namely to do with identity and masking of oneself. Took part in the Venice Biennale in recent years as part of the Hungarian contingent. More recently his works have taken on a public role with commissions for regional cultural centres and shopping malls making his architectronic sculptures in high demand.
