- Dermagraphic
Dermagraphic is a professional or medical term for a
tattoo ordermal pigmentation consisting of a design applied by an artist to a subject. Prior to the 1990's most tattooists were bikers or people who thought it "cool" to apply tattoos. As the art grew through the 1990's, younger, more artistic people began to tattoo. Most of these artists prefer to be called "dermagraphic artist" rather than "tattooist". With tattoos increasingly becoming popular through the 21st century, many newer studios are referred to as a "dermagraphic studio", sounding more appealing to the professional community than a "Tattoo Shop" or "Tattoo Parlor".
