Tamar (Tamar.com Ltd), is a digital agency with headquarters in London, UK and offices in Shanghai, China and Cape Town, South Africa. Established in 1995, Tamar survived the dot.com boom and bust of 2000/2001 to become a UK leader in search conversion.

Tamar specialise in 'search conversion', driving online traffic to websites via search engine marketing and converting more visitors to buyers via conversion-focused design. Tamar’s offering includes SEO, social media, mobile search and design & build.

Approximately 80 staff based in London, Shanghai and Cape Town provide online services to blue-chip UK-headquartered companies including; Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds TSB, Saga Insurance, B&Q and Direct Line, Royal Bank of Scotland, Tesco Personal Finance, National Car Rental and Arcadia.

1996 Professional services website built for MacFarlanes

1997 Tamar starts work for J Sainsbury PLC including three wesbites; Company moves to current premises in Chiswick.

1998 Full e-commerce enabled Website launched for Endsleigh Insurance.

2002 Tamar is listed in the New Media Age Top 100 websites

2003 Tamar launches websites / applications for Dreams PLC, American Express and Manchester United Football Club

2005 Tamar adds a number of big name clients to the roster, including Premierline Direct, Dial4aLoan, Bennetts, Express Insurance, NSPCC and Budget Insurance.

2006 Tamar launches its first overseas office in Cape Town, South Africa. 2008 In 2008 Tamar set up a registed charity to facilitate their global CSR work. Entitled 'Tamar Lifeline Charity' [http://www.tamarlifelinecharity.org.uk/] , the first project they are undertaking takes place in Shanghai, China. New projects include the website 'insurance.co.uk' for Lloyds TSB

Origin of the Name

Tamar was named after HMS "Tamar" - the naval base in Hong-Kong where CEO Tanya Goodin was brought up.

Tanya [http://www.independent.ie/business/technology/microsoft-targets-google--with-45bn-bid-for-yahoo-1279654.html] studied English at Oxford University, then worked in several media/creative companies before setting up her own business in 1995. Tanya identified an opportunity within the digital industry – search engine optimization. Under Tanya’s leadership, Tamar has grown significantly in the last 13 years and now has over 30 major clients over three continents within the financial services, retail and travel industries. Tanya was also shortlisted for the 'Blackberry Women and Technology Awards' in 2008.
