The Botswana general election of 1989 saw the Botswana Democratic Party win for the fifth straight legislative elections in Botswana since independence in 1966. The election was held on October 7 1989. There were a total of 367,069 registered voters for the election, of which 250,487 or 68.2% voted on October 7.
