ong information

"Uncle Salty" is one of the band's earliest works touching on a major social issue. The song focuses on child abuse and incest.

The song's lyrics mention how the victim in the song "cries in the night, but no one [comes] " and how it's a "sunny day outside [the victim's] window", meaning that the victim in the song is trapped in a horrible cycle of events she cannot escape.

The song has a laid-back, somewhat upbeat tone to the song, despite the nature of the lyrics. The song features a slower beat, a strong bass rhythm, and jangling guitars. Tyler also has several signature screams in this song.

Aerosmith would touch on similar lyrical subject matter again, in their 1989 hit song "Janie's Got a Gun". Uncle Salty is featured in the 2008 video game Guitar Hero Aerosmith.
