Andrew Ingkavet

Born in Brooklyn in 1965, Andrew Chai Ingkavet grew up in Commack, NY on Long Island son of Thai/Chinese and Korean immigrant parents. After graduating Commack HS South, he went to New York University to study music with jazz guitarist Gene Bertoncini. During his NYU days he was the founder of several bands, most notably the Zoning Board which released a 12 inch single to college radio in 1986 called "Reggae for Reagan" with the B side "Suburbia". The record is still in demand and played regularly on several college radio stations across the USA. During college, Ingkavet landed his first film scoring gig providing the soundtrack to roommate Adam Sandler's first film - a local television station funded it.

After graduation, Ingkavet worked his way up in the marketing side of the music business at Concrete Marketing helping to break and market several bands along the way including Guns N' Roses, Anthrax, Megadeth, White Lion, Europe, Tracy Chapman and Ozzy Osbourne.

Simultaneously to working in the music business, Ingkavet began acting Off off-Broadway in productions of the Pan Asian Repertory Theater Company, En Garde Arts and CityKids Rep. With fellow Zoning Board bandmate Jeff Solomon, Ingkavet wrote the musical "Growing Up & Other Heroic Deeds" for CityKids Rep touring in the NYC public schools since 1991!

In 1990, Ingkavet stood in for a one-off hosting of MTV's "Dial MTV". A year later he was offered a job to be one of 3 founding VJs for the newly launched MTV-Asia based in Hong Kong.

In 1993 Ingkavet along with Richard Cooper of SEA MUSIC produced a weekly series of live/radio concerts "Radio Free HK" which featured new and independent music both local and international. The series garnered much media attention and sponsorship from San Miguel Brewing Company. It also featured Ingkavet as host and headliner with his band "Hot Sauce."

A long-time self-described "computer geek" Ingkavet co-founded award-winning interactive advertising agency Lemon in Hong Kong with partner David Mok. It quickly attracted clients including Cathay Pacific, NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, Motorola and many others.

Coming back to the US in 1996, Ingkavet indulged in the dotcom revolution working at several early players such as Music Boulevard, Digitas and eventually becoming Vice President, Creative Director at FCBi.

In 2003, Andrew left FCBi to focus on time with his newborn son and to found 300 Monks, a creative audio agency delivering creative audio solutions for film, television, interactive, theater and new media. Recent work includes scores for "Noelle" (2007) for Gener8xion Entertainment, award-winning documentaries "Other People's Children" by Beth Botshon, "The Mighty Humble Blueberry" by Nancy O'Mallon among others.

In 2007, Ingkavet was nominated for Outstanding Original Music at the NY Innovative Theater Awards for his 70 minute original score to Abandon, by Matthew Maguire and produced at LaMama ETC. Ingkavet is currently working on a futuristic sci-fi opera.
