The Kubinka Tank Museum, also known as "The Tank Museum in
Kubinka ", is a largemuseum ofarmoured fighting vehicle s inRussia , just outsideMoscow . It has many famous tanks fromWorld War I ,World War II and theCold War . The museum also houses many unique vehicles, such as thePanzer VIII Maus , Troyanov super-heavy tank and aMörser Karl alongside single production prototypes from Russia and Germany. The museum is derived from the research collection of the Kubinka armour test base, still functioning as such. Most Cold War-era Western tanks are war trophies from Middle East, Africa, Vietnam and Latin America, sent to the armour test facility to test for weaknesses.From August to October 2007, the Museum website stated that it was closed to foreign visitors by order of the military.
