Provincial roads in northern Saskatchewan

Provincial roads in northern Saskatchewan

In the northern part of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Highways and Transportation maintains a network of "provincial roads" numbered in the 900s - as opposed to the "provincial highways" with numbers under 400 - that provide access to rural communities. These are mostly located outside the rural municipalities of southern Saskatchewan, in which most roads - including the "grid roads" numbered from 600 to 799 - are locally maintained.

Numbered provincial roads

Provincial Road 903 begins at Highway 55 in Meadow Lake No. 588, east of the town of Meadow Lake, and heads north 179 km (111 mi) to Upper Cumins Lake. Along the way, it intersects Provincial Road 941, Provincial Road 904, and Provincial Road 965 (at Cole Bay, on the south side of Canoe Lake).Provincial Road 904 connects the north end of Highway 4 (and the east end of Highway 224) in the Meadow Lake Provincial Park (part of Meadow Lake No. 588) with Provincial Road 903 south of Cole Bay, intersecting Provincial Road 951 within the park. The route stretches 71 km (44 mi).

PR 904, as well as the part of PR 903 north of PR 904, was once Highway 104, a northerly extension of Highway 4.Rand McNally & Company, Gulf Tourgide: United States, Canada and Mexico, 1977]
