- Al Haddi
The Al-Haddi Family is one of the famous families that ruled large parts of
Yemen since the 600th year until now. The family originally belonged to the tribes of “Tho- Mohammed” a branch of Bakil on of the major tribes in Yemen. Their grandfather “Al-Dawoudi” moved to “Al-Had” area within “Yafe’e” (Lahj Governorate now) during old migrations, and settled there, then six hundred years ago “Al-Dawoudi”, who gained the name of “Al-Haddi” moved to the area of “Ammar” (Ibb Governorate now) where he established his Sultanate that extended to large areas. “Al-Haddi” started to found Forts and Castles and formidable fortress such as Safwan fortress, Hnaul fortress, Munif fortress and others. “Al-Haddi” used these forts for centuries to lead the war against the Turkish occupation to Yemen.
