Ramzi Abed (born
March 5 ,1973 ) is the founder of "Bloodshot Pictures" and also the founding member of the electronic group, Elektracity.Mr. Abed creates films that focus on dying and transcending the physical world. Each of his films often features characters when they are sleeping. His more recent work also focuses on spiritual and magical thinking, frequently paying homage to ancient texts related to
Judaism , especially theKabbalah . His films are frequently experimental in nature, creating such grainy, abstract films as the obscure feature-length piece, entitled "Clay Fields", which has been compared to the works ofDavid Lynch andBill Viola . He also joined up withLloyd Kaufman (ofThe Toxic Avenger andTroma fame),Mark Borchardt (ofAmerican Movie fame), and sexyMasuimi Max ( of Iamtrouble.com legend [ [http://www.iamtrouble.com Iamtrouble.com] ] ), who all starred in his award-winning 16mm short film,The Tunnel , which has screened as an Official Selection of 40 international film festivals. All three actors went on to act in Abed's next film.The newest projects from Mr. Abed include the features, "Upside Downtown", which again stars
Masuimi Max , as well as the glossy carnivalesque murder mystery,The Devil's Muse , based on the true unsolved murder ofElizabeth Short , akaBlack Dahlia . The lead actress in Mr. Abed'sThe Devil's Muse (also once known asBlack Dahlia Movie wasKristen Kerr , who was also in "Inland Empire". Mr. Abed cast her in his film beforeDavid Lynch . Other notable actors who acted in the cult film includeRobert Williams ,Gidget Gein ,Julie Strain ,Cinqué Lee ,Dame Darcy ,Abby Travis , andCaveh Zahedi . He also frequently works with actress,Lizzy Strain . The film went on to be released theatrically and on dvd byHALO 8 Entertainment and digitally byCinetic Media .
