Tokyo Dawn Records

Tokyo Dawn Records

Tokyo Dawn Records is a netlabel based in Weimar, Germany and now coordinated from Frankfurt, Germany. The label carries origins in the demoscene and was established in 1997 to promote "opensource music". Tokyo Dawn Records is headed by Marc "Prymer" Wallowy and Fabien Schivre and features many aspiring artists and musicians. Like many netlabels it provided a plattform for distribution of music that otherwise would not be available to the average bedrooom music producer. Currently Tokyo Dawn is re-organised and the whole music catalogue can be found on Last.fm

However, the company later found that open sources principles cannot be applied directly to the music industry; they are offering music for free download, but users are not allowed to re-distribute modified versions of the tracks.
