Peggy attended the
University of Saskatchewan and was active in the student government, and athletics while receiving herBachelor of Arts . As a student she was awarded the Spirit of Youth Award. To celebrate the university's 75th Anniversary, the University Athletic Wall of Fame was created, of which Peggy McKercher, is one of the inductees.Municipal politics and community service
Peggy McKercher was the first women to serve for the
rural municipality of Corman Park Council. Peggy was on the board of Directors for the Jeux Canada Games as well as for ParticipACTION. She was chair of the Meewasin Valley Authority (MVA), and Vice-Chair of Wanuskewin Heritage Park, which was developed and built by MVA. She has also served as a Board member of the National Capital Commissions’ Canadiana Fund, the Saskatchewan Arts Board, and Saskatchewan representative on the Trans Canada Trail Foundation Advisory Board. She has also served on the Mayor’s South Downtown Task Force, the Saskatchewan Medical Research Foundation, the Saskatchewan Order of Merit Advisory Committee, and the Canadian Water Resources Board of Directors.
