Okawa was born in
Osaka ,Japan . As a young adult he studied atWaseda University inTokyo . After graduating from Waseda he formed his own Computer Service Company, which later became known as CSK Holdings Corporation.Involvement with CSK Holdings
CSK (CSK Holdings Corporation) is a Japanese technology company formed by Okawa in 1968. The company mainly provides ICT services to numerous businesses throughout Japan. Okawa was the Chairman from 1968 until his death in 2001.Involvement With SEGA
From 1984 until 2004 Okawa's Company CSK Holdings Corporation had the most shares over
SEGA and as a result, Okawa was the Chairman ofSega Enterprises. In 2004 CSK's shares were bought by Sammy, making Hajime Satomi the new CEO of SEGA, and Sega was renamed Sega Sammy Holdings. In his time he supplied over $40millionUSD towards Sega Enterprises, mainly to fund theSega Dreamcast , forgave the debts Sega owed him and gave the company his $695 million worth of Sega and CSK stock to Sega Corporation. As a result of this is remembered by some as an iconic member in Sega's History. As well as this Okawa's CompanyCSK had a research institute which produced software for Sega'sSega Mega Drive/Sega Genesis ,Sega Saturn andDreamcast Consoles.Honors
Okawa was recognized by the Japanese Government for his aid in supporting financially numerous Japanese Technology Companies. Including that of SEGA Enterprises. He also received an honorary doctorate from his alma mater
Death
Okawa died at
Tokyo University Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 3.47pm on the 16th March 2001, and his cause of death was heart failure. Okawa was aged 74.Links
