Lagos ,Nigeria . It was founded byEverton FC fromLiverpool . They are currently not involved in playing in any league and are awaiting for Lagos based companies to help with financial backing.The English team boast three full Nigerian Internationals in their side;
Victor Anichebe (Lagos ),Aiyegbeni Yakubu (Benin City ) and Super Eagles' captainJoseph Yobo (Port Harcourt ). The club saw that many Nigerian people were taking notice of the club and they decided to give something back to the country.Club director Robert Earl flew out to Lagos to meet with state officials to discuss the idea in depth and the response was largely enthusiastic. So enthusiastic that they have allowed Everton to use the city name 'Lagos' in the club's name. To register a club as a limited liability company with the Corporate Affairs Commission with the name ‘Lagos’ required the approval of the state government.
Former Nigerian senator
Tokunbo Afikuyomi helped secure the decision and the Federal Ministry of Justice approved the scheme as well as the Corporate Affairs Commission.The project will be ran in conjunction with the Joseph Yobo Foundation with Yobo's brothers Albert and Lawrence overseeing the project.
