A Winter Storm Warning is a statement made by the
National Weather Service of theUnited States which means awinter storm is occurring or is about to occur in the area, usually within 24 hours. Generally, a Winter Storm Warning is issued if at least 6 or more inches ofsnow or 3 or more inches of snow with a large accumulation ofice is forecast. Usually, a large accumulation of ice alone with no snow will result in either aWinter Weather Advisory ,Ice Storm Warning , or in the case of light freezing rain, a Freezing Rain or Drizzle Advisory.A similar warning is issued by

THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET TO PRODUCEGREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO ONE QUARTER INCH OF ICE ACCUMULATION BYMONDAY NIGHT ACROSS NEW MEXICOS EASTERN PLAINS. AREAS OF DENSE FOGMAY ALSO DEVELOP AND REDUCE VISIBILITY BELOW ONE HALF MILE ATTIMES.
