Early years
Raised in the Montreal area, Evoy attended
Loyola High School (Montreal) and graduated fromMcGill University with first class honors. He entered Medicine at McGill University in 1975, completing his internship in 1980. Evoy practiced as an emergency physician from 1980 to 1990. He was one of three physicians, along withMarc Afilalo andIvan Steiner , who was responsible for hiring and training 200 physicians in pre-hospital emergency care at Montreal's newly founded EMS system,Corporation des Urgences Sante du Montreal Metropolitain ("Urgences Santé").Fact|date=December 2007 He later practiced as a full-time emergency physician at Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal and theSir Mortimer B.
