Past_members =Indio is a Canadian singer-songwriter whose name is Gordon Peterson. His choice for using the name Indio came because he didn't feel comfortable using his own name.
History
Although a native of
Dundas, Ontario , Gordon Peterson has made Toronto his home since age 19. When he arrived in Toronto he put a band together but found himself frustrated after playing the local clubs for two years. Peterson felt that it was quite restricting to have to rely on the same band members all the time. He decided it was easier to find musicians that he thought were appropriate for each track, so the band broke up.Other collaborators
Other collaborators of Gordon Peterson include Brenda Russell (provided the ad-libbed vocal filigree on "Hard Sun"), Joni Mitchell (sings a variety of background parts) and Indian violinist L. Subramanian.
The Indio sound
Although many aspects determined the "Indio Sound", the drummers played a crucial role. Peterson loved rhythms and interesting grooves. When Peterson made a record he had a very clear idea of what type of groove he wanted. Other than that "everything else is left up to spontaneity."
