James McDonald (artist)

Scottish artist James McDonald was born in Stirling in 1956.A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, award winning artist James McDonald has painted full time since 1989. Exhibited widely, his quixotic, meticulously observed still lives feature in many public and corporate collections worldwide.

Educated from 1974 - 78 at Edinburgh College of Art and thereafter taking on a Certificate of Post Graduate Studies (Edinburgh), he has held the following one man shows:

1985 - Rijkscentrum Frans Masareel, Belgium 1989 - Glasgow Print Studio

1991 - The Cormund Gallery, Glasgow

1992 - Ewan Mundy Fine Art, London

1993 - The Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh

1994 - Roger Billcliffe Fine Art, Glasgow

1998 - Glasgow Print Studio

1996 - Long & Ryle Art International, London 1997 - Beak Gallery, Dublin

Mr. McDonald has been awarded the following: 1978 - Andrew Grant Travelling Scholarship, 1985 - British Council Travel Grant,1986 - I.B.M. Purchase Prize (SSA),1987 - The Falkiner Award for Printmaking, 1990 - The N.S. McFarlane Charitable Trust Award (RGI),1992 - Nominated for City of Glasgow/Lord Provost Prize,1992 - Alexander Stone Foundation (RGI),1991/98 - Included in Noble Grossart Painting Prize Exhibition, Edinburgh.
