hip hop group comprised ofBucwheed , Spit-Anky, Alphie andSt. Imey . They were signed toDelicious Vinyl Records and were originally distributed by Priority and Capitol. The Wascals were often compared to their labelmates
The Pharcyde and were called "The Baby Pharcyde" as they shared many similarities. Both groups have four members, were produced byJ-Swift and, similar to the Pharcyde's "Pharcyde Manor", the Wascals fictional base of operations was the "Wascal Castle". In addition, Wascals member Bucwheed appeared on The Pharcyde album "Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde " andFatlip appeared on The Wascals song "Dream and Imaginate".Each of The Wascals possessed youthful, high-pitched voices and were named after characters from the "
Our Gang " films. Bucwheed was named after Buckwheat, Spit-Anky was named after Spanky, Alphie was named after Alfalfa and St. Imey was named after Stymie. To go along with the gimmick, Bucwheed wore an unkempt afro similar to Buckwheat, while Alphie wore his hair similar to Alfalfa. The group recorded an album called "Greatest Hits" that was supposed to be released in
1994 , the group had released four singles and shot three music videos in 1993, "Class Clown", "The Dips", "Dream and Imaginate" and "Hard Rhymes" and were considered to be the next big thing for Delicious Vinyl, however the group did not get along with each other and broke up just before the album was set to be released. After the break up, Delicious Vinyl shelved the album and Alphie and Spit-Anky were dropped from the label. In 2007, 14 years after the singles were released, Delicious Vinyl confirmed that they would finally release the album on itsYoutube page. The album was released in stores and onitunes onJune 17 ,2007 . Delicious Vinyl has also released the three little seen music videos on Youtube.Out of the four members of The Wascals, only Bucwheed has released a solo album. Bucwheed changed his name to Buc Fifty in 1998 and released "Bad Man " in 2002 and "Serve The Devil, Praise The Lord " in 2004 forBattle Axe Records and "The Rethuglican " in 2005 for Delicious Vinyl.Discography
