Belgrade - Bar motorway ( _sr. Autoput Beograd - Bar), is a future motorway in Serbia and Montenegro. The motorway will connect Serbian capital of Belgrade and Bar, Montenegro's main seaport.

In Serbia, the 146.37 km long section between Belgrade and Požega, is going to be built under concession arrangement. The concession contract for the has been signed with [http://www.alpine.at/ Alpine Mayreder] and FCC Construction. However, the contract encompasses the Horgoš - Požega section, the Horgoš - Belgrade section not being the part of the motorway discussed here.

Just recently the focus has somewhat shifted away from construction of the transit route of Corridor 10 towards the Belgrade - Bar motorway. The main proponent of building this road is Velimir Ilić, the former Minister of Infrastructure in the Serbian government, and he is personally widely credited for recent activities towards building the motorway.

When and how the remaining Serbian section of the road from Požega to Boljare will be built is yet to be arranged.

The road will pass through the Serbian towns of Ostružnica, Umka, Obrenovac, Ub, Lajkovac, Ljig, Takovo, Preljina and Požega. It is estimated that this section of the motorway will cost around 575 million euros. This is, however, the cheapest section of the motorway, as the approximately 110 km long section from Požega to Boljare will cost at least 1.5 billion euros.

Montenegrin section

The Montenegrin part of motorway will be 185.5 km long, and by far the most expensive one, with an estimated cost of around 2 billion euros. The rugged mountainous terrain requires building a large number of tunnels and bridges along the section. The Montenegrin part is currently in its planning phase, as the Montenegrin Faculty of Civil Engineering is currently in process of designing the motorway. So far, there is no consensus on how Montenegro will finance the building of this motorway. This is an immense investment for Montenegro, which has a GDP of 2.4 billion euros. It will be financed through public-private partnership involving a domesic/foreign consortium. Road tolls will pay for parts of the costs. Building of this motorway is considered the top priority by Montenegrin Government as the current road link of the Montenegrin coast and Podgorica with northern Montenegro and Serbia is an obsolete and dangerous road with only two lanes. This road (part of European route E65) is insufficient to cope with the growing tourism and transit of goods in Montenegro and is a curvy mountainous road which lags behind European standards.

The Montenegrin part of the road will pass through Berane, Andrijevica, Mateševo, Smokovac, will bypass Podgorica, and will end near Bar. The only section for which the corridor is not yet defined is north of Podgorica as there are two variants - one passing through region of Kuči, the other passing through Vasojevići.
