Pelican Island is an uninhabited island of the British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean. It is located just north of Norman Island and west of Peter Island, adjacent to Flanagan Island in the south eastern corner of the British Virgin Islands.
The rocky cliffs on the south eastern face of the island plunge into the sea making it a popular dive site. It is perfectly possible to land a boat on the other sides of the island, although there is not much to see.
In some older charts, Pelican Island is also referred to as Witch Island. There is a degree of confusion as to the island which was at some times known as Witch Island - other charts refer to Flanagan Island as Witch Island. This confusion relating to the name may be connected to long standing lack of clarification as to whether Flanagan formed part of the Danish islands or the modern day British Virgin Islands.
