Lyn Carpenter

Lyn Carpenter (born 30 November 1965) played international netball for England at the Netball World Championships in 1999 and the Commonwealth Games in 1998, winning bronze medals at both competitions. Carpenter represented her country at junior levels before initially quitting netball at 22. Additionally she represented Great Britain in basketball at the World Student Games in Zagreb. A natural athlete with a highly competitive spirit, following a six-year break she decided to compete again and became the oldest player ever to be rewarded with a senior England international cap for netball at 32. Winning a total of 33 international caps, she retired from international competition in 2003. Carpenter continued to compete at national level winning the England Netball Supercup with London Tornadoes in 2004 and 2005 before retiring from competition. Now a board director for England Netball, she continues to help the development of the sport at National & Intentional level. From June 2006 Carpenter has chaired Netball Europe, the Federation responsible for netball across the Region of which there are currently 8 member countries (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Gibraltar, Malta and most recently Israel).
