RATP Class Z 1500 "Altéo" is a type of double-decker, dual-voltage electric multiple units operated on the FrenchRER A line. These trains have been built byGEC Alstom and ANF. The Altéo is also known as theRATP version of theMI 2N .RATP Altéo looks very similar to
SNCF Class Z 22500 trains, but many differences exist between these models, such as motorization and design of inner spaces.Description
As dual-voltage units, Altéos are able to operate on 1500 V DC or 25 kv AC electrical networks, because this is the case on the
RER A line, which uses the two networks (RFF/SNCF from Cergy-le-Haut and Poissy to Nanterre-Préfecture - 25kv AC,RATP from Nanterre-Préfecture to Marne-la-Vallée, Boissy-Saint-Léger and Saint-Germain-en-Laye - 1500v DC).Altéos made their commercial debut on June 6th, 1997.
