There have been four Baronetcies created for persons with the surname Preston, two in the
Baronetage of Nova Scotia , one in theBaronetage of England and another in theBaronetage of the United Kingdom .The Preston Baronetcy, of
Airdrie in theCounty of Fife , was created in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia on22 February 1628 for John Preston. The descent after the death of the fourth Baronet sometime after 1701 and the accession of Robert Preston in 1784 is uncertain. The title became dormant on the latter's death in c. 1792.The Preston Baronetcy, of
Valleyfield in theCounty of Perth , was created in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia on13 March 1637 for George Preston. The fifth Baronet sat asMember of Parliament for Kirkcaldy Burghs. The title became dormant on the death of the ninth Baronet in 1873.The Preston Baronetcy, of
Furness in theCounty of Lancaster , was created in the Baronetage of England on1 April 1644 for George Preston. The title became extinct on the death of the third Baronet in 1709.The Preston Baronetcy, of
Beeston St Lawrence in the County ofNorfolk , was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on30 May 1815 for Thomas Hulton Preston. Born Thomas Hulton, he was the son of Henry Hulton and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Isaac Preston of Beeston St Lawrence, whose estates he inherited. In 1804 he assumed the surname of Preston in lieu of his patronymic. As of 2007 the presumed eighth and present Baronet has not successfully proven his succession, and is therefore not on the Official Roll of the Baronetage, with the baronetcy considered dormant.
