HMS Crab (fictional Hornblower vessel)

HMS "Crab" is a fictional Royal Navy vessel which appears in C.S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower novel "Admiral Hornblower in the West Indies". It is a very small schooner with a crew of sixteen not counting supernumeries. The vessel is armed with two six-pounder guns. In contrast, the smallest-ever real-life Royal Navy schooner, the 52 ton HMS "Sultana", had a crew of 25 [ [http://www.schoonersultana.com/education_pages/wood_water_beef.htm] . Nevertheless, during peace-time operations and with other ships unavailable, circumstances require Rear Admiral Hornblower to hoist his flag in it.
