Charles Pallilo (born July 2, 1966) grew up in Bayport on Long Island, New York Through high school, Charlie was a competitive tennis player, but he realized at an early age that this was not in his future.
From his preteen years, his design was on a career in sports, Charlie said. At age 12, he read Marv Albert's biography, Yessss! and his path began.
Like Marv, Bob Costas, and Dick Stockton, Charlie attended Syracuse University and was a Rhodes Scholar candidate nominee along the way to earning bachelor's and master's degrees.
Out of school, Charlie's first full-time job was in Morgantown, West Virginia. In April 1989, after 9½ months in Morgantown, he moved to Houston, Texas and joined the staff at AM 740 KTRH. There, he worked up the ranks, first starting talk show duties in 1990.
After 10 years at KTRH, he moved on to SportsRadio 610 (KILT)in August 1999. Some five years later, he's now taken on the new and exciting challenge of helping launch The Sports Animal (AM 790 KBME).
"I admit that when I moved down here", Charlie says with a chuckle, "the thought was a couple of years in Houston would help me along, and the next stop would be back in the Northeast. But the career went well, Houston is a terrific place to live with tremendous diversity in almost all areas, and this is the place for me. Very few 75-degree January days in New York City."
Charlie has also earned himself play-by-play duties for the Houston Dynamo. He also makes a weekly appearance on Houston's ABC's affiliate, Channel 13 KTRK-TV's "Extra Points".
