Pirguli State Reserve

The reserve of Pirguli was created in 1968 to protect the typical landscapes from the plate of Shamakha, one of the most beautiful areas of the south-east of the Large Caucasus. Surface is 1.521 hectares, including 90% of forests of leafy trees, sheltering nearly 50 endemic vegetable species. Altitude lies there between 1.600 and 2.000 m of altitude. Cliffs dominate of deep canyons, being able to reach 600 m of depth.

Among the remarkable mammals, one will note the presence of the porcupine, the wolf and the hyena striped, whose reserve is one of the last refuges in Azerbaijan.
